What is the America Reads Work-Study program?
The America Reads Work-Study program is different form other work-study positions because you will be working off campus. If accepted into the program you will be working at one high need elementary school:  First Ward Elementary, where your job will be to tutor children in reading. At the elementary schools you will be supervised by the volunteer coordinator to set your schedule and to give you direction. For additional information please visit the Financial Aid website.

What is expected of me if I am in the America Reads Work-Study program?
If you are accepted as an  work-study student you are expected to: keep in contact with your CPCC supervisor, provide appropriate contact information (i.e. phone and e-mail), work no more than twenty hours per work, submit to background checks and volunteer screening, provide your own transportation and turn in your timesheet by the last day of every month (please click here if you need to print out a timesheet). Timesheets must be signed by your supervisor at CPCC and at the Elementary School you are working at. Your time must be rounded out to the quarter hour (for example: if you worked 5 hours and 29 minutes, you would put down 5.30 hours). Timesheets can be dropped off to the Service-Learning Center, Dena Shonts or faxed to 704-330-6442, attention: Dena Shonts.
