NORTH CAROLINA CAMPUS COMPACT

2009 P.A.C.E. Conference (formerly the Service-Learning Conference), February 11, 2009 @ Elon University

Call for Proposals

NC Campus Compact is pleased to announce a Call for Proposals for the 2009 P.A.C.E. (Pathways to Achieving Civic Engagement) Conference.*  We invite faculty, scholars, administrators, community partners and students who are involved in civic engagement research, instruction and practice to submit presentation proposals.  Conference participants will include learners and educators form these constituencies.  Participant familiarity with civic engagement will range from novice to advanced.

*Please note that this is the new name for the former Service-Learning Conference. While we believe that service-learning is a critical pedagogy that assists faculty in integrating academic learning with civic practice, we acknowledge that it is just one pathway for connecting the campus with the community to create the "engaged campus."  In recent years the conference themes and topics have expanded beyond service-learning to include such topics as community-based research, philanthropy and campus-community partnership development. While we continue to welcome presentations focused on service-learning, we believe this new name allows for broader inclusion and more accurately reflects the conference intent and content.

Please visit the link below for the detailed Call for Proposals which includes a link to the online proposal form, conference goals, selection criteria and guidelines. The proposal deadline is November 7, 2008.

You are receiving this e-mail because you have registered to attend an NC Campus Compact service-learning conference previously. If you are a key civic engagement professional on your campus, this may be a duplicate mailing. If you would like to be removed from the conference mailing list, please send an e-mail to lgarvin@elon.edu
