CPCC/CMS Academy Home
The Law, Pubic Safety and Security Academy is a new pathway for area high school students who would like to help others. The program began in the fall of 2004 for Charlotte-Mecklenburg School students at Hopewell, North Mecklenburg, Vance, and West Mecklenburg High Schools.
The Law, Public Safety and Homeland Security Academy will focus on the knowledge and skills that future law enforcement and criminal justice professionals will need to succeed in justice and public safety careers. The Academy helps prepare students for careers in planning, managing and providing, legal, public safety, protective services and homeland security, including professional and technical support services.

Purpose of Academy:
- Build educational and community partnerships to help students focus on the broad career areas of law, public service and homeland security.
- Provide preparation for, and experiences with, postsecondary education and learning opportunities in the professions in which the student has the most interest.
- Build partnerships that help identify student and community needs for developing and supporting a variety of career-oriented learning communities that focus on the broad career areas of law, public safety, and security;
