Curriculum Description
This course is 624 mandated hours and meets for approximately 16 weeks, 5 days per week (M-F) from 7:00am until 6:00pm. Students must successfully complete and pass all units of study which include the certification examination mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission to receive a certificate. Students can earn as many as 19 semester hours towards an A.A.S. degree in Criminal Justice technology upon completing the course. Central Piedmont Community Colleges’ BLET is conducted in a paramilitary style. Employment with criminal justice agencies is subject to specific agency criteria; therefore, completion of a degree alone is no guarantee of eligibility of employment.
Note: Central Piedmont Community College has increased the hours in some topical areas of Basic Law Enforcement Training course above the minimum required by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission.
