Employment Opportunities

Cardiovascular technology is a rapidly advancing specialty in part due to technological advances, aging populations, congenital heart repairs approaching adulthood and follow-up assessments of surgical repairs. According to the US Dept. of Labor and Statistics, the job outlook is expected to grow much faster than average through the year 2014. Growth will occur as the population ages, because older people have a higher incidence of heart problems and use more diagnostic imaging procedures. Currently, a shortage of trained cardiovascular technologists exists nationwide and graduates are able to find placement in hospitals, clinics, physician offices, mobile companies and traveling agencies. Graduates of the CPCC Cardiovascular Technology Program are eligible to take the cardiovascular technology registry.
