Interpreter Education Program

New Admissions requirements beginning 2008-2009

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • CPCC placement tests are required in English,reading and mathematics.
  • Students must take and pass ENG 111 and ENG 114 OR 112,113  with a grade of C or better
  • Student must have a SLPI (Sign Language Placement Interview) rating of Intermediate Level or higher in order to major in the Interpreter Education program. For more information about SLPI (formerly SCPI), you may go to Resource Links (see the menu in the left column).
  • All courses in the Interpreter Education Program have course prerequisites or corequisites; check the Course Descriptions section for details.

You are not eligible to enroll into the IPP courses until the above courses are completed and the admissions requirements  have been satisfied.  

 

Note: Students must earn a grade of C or better on all required content area courses (ASL and IPP courses) or on any prerequisite course before taking the next level course.

 Students must also take the Sign Language Proficiency Interview and be assessed at  the Intermediate level or greater before  acceptance into the Interpreter Education Program. Please contact the Program Chair for dates and times to set up your interview.
