Leave Plans

Vacation

All full-time employees accrue vacation hours based on years of service except faculty members on a ten month contract. Employees accrue at the rates shown in the table below. Years of service includes "total state service" which may include prior state service.

Vacation accruals is administered based on the college's fiscal year which runs from July 1st through June 30th of each year. The maximum carryover of vacation allowed for any employee is 240 hours. Any hours in excess of the 240 hour limit are converted to the employee's sick leave balance as of the beginning of the new fiscal year.Any vacation leave taken must be approved by the employee's supervisor prior to use. Please refer to the Policies and Procedures Manual for additional information.

Sick Leave

All regular full-time employees accrue eight (8) hours of sick leave per month for a total of 96 hours annually. Ten month faculty accrues at a rate of 9.6 hours monthly for each of their ten pay periods for a total accrual of 96 hours annually. Please refer to the Policies and Procedures Manual for additional information.

Necessity Leave

All full-time employees will be awarded a total of sixteen (16) hours of necessity leave per fiscal year (July 1st- June 30th). Any leave not taken at the end of the fiscal year will be forfeited and a new bank of necessity leave will be added. There is no carryover. Necessity leave must be approved prior to its use by the employee's supervisor. For the uses of necessity leave please review the Policies and Procedures Manual.

Holidays

Full-time employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays per year. Employees should consult the Central Piedmont Community College Calendar to view the designated holidays for each year.

Leave Balances

Employees may access their leave balances through WebAdvisor. If an employee believes there has been an error in their leave accounting, the employee should complete the Leave Discrepancy Form and submit it to the Human Resources Leave Accounting staff listed at the bottom of this page.
