Flexible Spending Accounts
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) are a great way to set aside money on a pre-taxed basis, to pay for qualified dependent day care and/or out-of-pocket health care related expenses. Benefit premiums are not included. Flexible Spending Account dollars must be used for qualified dependent and/or health care expenses incurred during each calendar year. Under IRS regulations, any expenses incurred through December 31 and not filed for reimbursement from current year contributions by the next March 31 will be forfeited; therefore it is wise to plan carefully when calculating how much to set aside. You must enroll each year, during annual enrollment to continue participation in the Flexible Spending program.
Participants in the FSA have the option of the Flex Convenience® card. The Flex Convenience® card can be used to pay for eligible goods and services covered by your FSA like prescription drug co-pays, office visit co-pays, or deductibles under your health, dental, and vision plans. This card can also be used for allowable dependent care expenses. You may use your card at approved providers or merchants that accept MasterCard®.
