Horticultural Scholarship Criteria

I.                    Eligibility
A.                 Scholarships are open to all new and continuing students in Horticulture or Horticulture Technology Programs at Central Piedmont Community College.
B.                 A student must be enrolled for the number of credit hours required by the scholarship donor.
C.                 A student must submit a completed application to the selection committee by the stated deadline. (see attached)
D.                 Finalists must participate in an interview with the selection committee.
E.                  Previous recipients mar re-apply for a second year provided they require 2 semesters to graduate.
F.                  If the recipient becomes ineligible, an alternate recipient may be named by the selection committee.
G.                 To remain eligible the recipient must be enrolled and maintain satisfactory academic progress (2.0 grade point average or better) on a semester basis and continue to be registered for the required credit hours in degree seeking courses.
 
 
II.                 Schedule of Events
A.                 Applications are currently made available on the program website.
B.                 Applications are due by April 12th 2008.
C.                 Applications are screened and finalists are interviewed by the selection committee on April 22nd 2008.
D.                 Recipients and alternates are named by April 22nd 2008.
E.                  Payments are made during the registration period for Fall and Spring semesters.
 
III.               Selection Committee
A.                 Membership is to be composed of the following:
                                                               i.      Two industry representatives for the CPCC Horticulture Advisory Committee.
                                                             ii.      One representative from the CPCC Foundation, if available.
                                                            iii.      Representatives from the donor garden clubs and donating organizations.
                                                           iv.      Three representatives from the CPCC Horticulture Faculty.
 
B.                 Duties of selection committee include: Meet in April to review applications and select recipients and alternates.
