Center Coordinator of the Year

James H. Smith, JR., Myers Park High School
In1975, Jim Smith arrived in Charlotte to teach at Myers Park High School. In 1976 he became the Co-Director of CPCC's Evening Classes at MP. His contributions to the evening program are legion! Through Jim's vision, the CPCC student population grew from 400 to 1500 in only a few years. He develop creative classes for the target market, he marketed them through the Charlotte Observer's feature section and did the legwork to distribute original flyers to apartment complexes, businesses, and institutions in the Myers Park vicinity. Jim's cool head in a crisis, his fine honed public relations skills, his ability to think "out of the box", his positive approach to all problems, and his ability to "get the job done" assures a well-run and successful evening center.

On behalf of all who benefit from Jim Smith's hard work and dedication to the success of CPCC's Evening Program at the Myers Park High School Center, we say "Thank you, Jim, for a job well done!"
