Learning about and using the many organizations and institutions in the United States is a concern for every non-native student.

The LEAD Project sets as its goal of Civics Education, to encourage civic participation by providing information to the learner about the resources available in the

social,
political,
healthcare, and
educational

systems in our communities. With this information, the ESL learner will be better equipped to effectively navigate and interact with these institutions.

Each video in the Crossroads Cafe Classroom series concludes with a 3-minute Civics Information Interview. The objective of these interviews is to familiarize the student with the various civic resources available in his/her community.

On this page, you will find civics education lesson activities. These plans are content based, task based , project based and participatory.

These lesson plans have been developed to be compatible with Crossroads Cafe Classroom. Every effort has been made for these lesson plans to be as accurate as possible.
