Pre-semester Planning
6- 4  weeks before semester begins Remind faculty to copy course(s) when shells become available, usually four weeks before the beginning of the semester.

4-2 weeks before semester begins Remind program/discipline chair or division secretary to check that courses are properly coded in COD:
  • Course delivery method is either TR, HY, IN, or TW
  • The instructor has been assigned.

Please note:
  • All courses, including TR, will now have a course shell created in Blackboard.
  • An instructor must be assigned in the COD to have access to the course web site.

Read new semester timeline of LMS (Blackboard / Moodle). Refer faculty to LMS document and/or note:
  • LMS outages
  • Course copy deadlines
  • 10% reporting procedures

Check that program and/or discipline chairs are aware of batch copy deadlines. Requests are made in CAW. Click here for CAW

Preparing Course(s) in New Shell(s)
2-1 week(s) before semester begins Refer faculty to Faculty Checklist for tips on preparing courses in new course shells. Click here for Faculty Checklist
1 Week before semester begins Remind faculty of course availability:
  • Students will be enrolled in TR, IN, HY, and TW courses on the start date entered in COD
  • All courses designated IN, HY, or TW (Internet, hybrid, or teleweb) course, will automatically be made available on the start date listed on the COD.
  • Faculty offering courses in Moodle should post a redirect to http://moodle.cpcc.edu in their unused Bb shell.
  • Faculty teaching TR courses using Bb must manually make them available to students.

During Semester
First week of Class Alert faculty to:
New Policy: Forty-eight hours after the 10% census date for a class, faculty must enter WN status in WebEmployee for students who have not attended by the 10% census date. This step occurs before faculty receives rosters. Attendance can be checked via course statistics/logs.

When available Encourage students to complete the online student opinion survey when it is made available Click here for SOS web link
Submit mid-term reviews and Financial Aid, Veterans Affairs attendance reporting at mid-term. Contact FA/VA specialist: julie-ann.anderson@cpcc.edu
When conducting online class observations:

Check for these essential elements of a quality course website:
  • A current syllabus has been posted.
  • Faculty office hours and contact information are readily accessible.
  • Instructor has a personalized introduction to the class.
  • Course dates are current.
  • Instructor has posted clear guidelines for responses and assignment turn-around times.
  • Substantive communication between instructor and students is evident. Look for activity on discussion boards and class announcements.
  • Course has appropriate links to student resources and college services.

Semester Wrap-Up
48 hours after last class Make sure faculty are aware that :
  • Final grades must be submitted 48 hours after last class. Final grades are submitted electronically via WebAdvisor.

  • Current course grade book should be archived or backed up.
