Who is Eligible, Expectations, Program Overview, Tools Provided

Description

The 2008 eLearning Seminar is an instructional development training that will elevate eLearning courses from being two-dimensional, primarily text-based webspaces to interactive, multi-dimensional environments.

Instructors will be provided with the necessary equipment to develop multimedia learning elements. One resource will be covered per day and each media element produced will be integrated into the instructor’s online course. The skills gained at the eLearning Seminar will benefit students by encouraging active learning and addressing the needs of learners with multiple learning styles.

Who is eligible?

The eLS training will be open to full-time eLearning instructors who teach or will teach online by fall 08 (Sections IN, TW, or HY).
Faculty must not have attended a 2007 eLearning Seminar (in May or August of 2007).
Note -- If there is high demand, it may be necessary to limit the number of participants per division.
The deadline for submitting your application is April 28, 2008

Expectations

Participants will create at least one multimedia piece per day during the seminar. A total of four pieces will be completed and integrated into their online course.
Participants will commit to a showcase session presented to their division peers and/or the college community.
Participants will continue to experiment with infusing multimedia into their online courses with the tools provided by the eLearning Seminar throughout the year.
Attendees must commit to attend the seminar in its entirety including all sessions. (see dates and time expectations under upcoming events)

Day One: Mobile Teaching and Learning

What tools and resources are provided to attendees?

The following eLearning development tools and resources will be provided to participants. The equipment will belong to CPCC. If the faculty member leaves the college, the equipment will remain at CPCC for the benefit of other instructors and students.
