How to Apply
T.E.A.C.H. Procedures for CPCC Students
1) Apply for T.E.A.C.H. scholarship
- Call T.E.A.C.H. to obtain an application (919 967 3272) or pick one up from the Early Childhood Education Department at CPCC.
- Select option (Early Childhood Credential, Associate Degree, Bachelors Degree).
* You must reapply if you move from one option to another. - Complete the entire application.
- Call T.E.A.C.H. to make sure they received the application. Heather O’Donnell is the counselor for Mecklenburg County.
- Allow up to 2 months for the application to be processed and approved.
- The approval packet and contract will be mailed to the teacher’s home.
2) Sign the contract and return it to T.E.A.C.H.
- Make sure the contract is signed by all necessary parties (T.E.A.C.H., director and teacher).
- Keep your address current with the T.E.A.C.H. office.
3) Select classes prior to registering
- Review course offerings for preferred courses.
- Select courses (desired sections need not be indicated at this point).
- Directors and Family Child Care Providers will submit the pre- authorization form FOR ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS ONLY to T.E.A.C.H. via fax. This form lists preferred courses for all staff and is available from T.E.A.C.H. If you have not been approved for the scholarship, your name should not be submitted to T.E.A.C.H. on this pre-authorization form, as no charge approval will be sent to CPCC.
- Allow 2-3 days for processing, then verify that CPCC has received a charge approval from T.E.A.C.H..
- Students can verify receipt of the charge approval by checking their account summaries on the web using their student numbers.
- If the account summary does not reflect the charge approval, the student should contact T.E.A.C.H.
- If students are not able to verify receipt via their account summaries, they may contact CPCC via email to verify receipt of charge approval (nicole.ritchie@cpcc.edu).
*Registering for classes before submitting the pre-authorization form creates problems; it puts students at risk of being dropped from classes for non-payment.
4) Register for classes
- Register for the classes indicated on the pre-authorization form.
If classes are the same as those indicated on the pre-authorization form, no further action is needed. - If you cannot get into the classes you selected on the pre-authorization form and must register for different classes, you must notify T.E.A.C.H. immediately of new classes via a new
pre-authorization form. - If new classes are chosen, the student should verify that the charge approval has been received by emailing CPCC (nicole.ritchie@cpcc.edu).
*Failure to notify T.E.A.C.H. of changes in selected courses may result in students being held responsible for the cost of courses.
Students may request that charge approvals be faxed directly to them rather than to CPCC. Students may deliver the forms directly to the college themselves, if they wish. Forms delivered to the Levine Campus will be processed immediately. Forms delivered to any other campus will be delayed unless the student requests that they be scanned and sent directly to the Sponsor Desk at Levine.
Note: T.E.A.C.H. will not pay for CAPS fees, which are added to the tuition of all students, regardless of the campus on which the student attends classes.
