CPCC’s Six-Campus Wildlife Habitats

Innovation Grant creates six National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitats; one at each campus location.

Baby Robin

CPCC is in the final stages of execution to secure from the National Wildlife Federation a Certified National Wildlife Habitat designation for all CPCC campuses. Six grants, each worth $2000, have been approved to allow each campus to begin development of its own unique wildlife habitat.

As of June, 2008, five of our six campuses have been certified!

Habitats provide four essential elements  to wildlife which include: Food, Water, Cover, and Place to Raise Young.

Our long-term goal is to provide ongoing educational opportunities in sustainable landscape practices using native plants. These low-maintenance areas will also provide an example of wildlife habitats that can be created in anyone’s backyard.

A Neighborhood

Can you hear the song of the Wood Thrush in your neighborhood?

Listen!

Special thanks go to Eddie Howell; CPCC Grounds Supervisor who approves each habitat site, along with John Holmes and Randy Sigg from CPCC Horticulture with their students will develop each campus’ landscape plan.
