Tips for Successful Online Job Searches
Companies' job listings are usually found under headings titled, Careers, Employment, Jobs, or Work for Us on the homepage. If you cannot find the job section on the homepage, check the About Us and Contact Us sections on their website.

Online listings are very helpful, but do not ignore the people contacts you have. Networking in person is one of the best ways to speed up a successful job search.

Check your email address and voicemail greeting on the phone. Email addresses should be simple, professional, and neither suggestive nor controversial. Voicemail greetings should provide at least the phone number the caller has reached and a clear, professional explanation that you will return the caller's message as soon as possible. Avoid adding

poetry, music, children's voices, and other unprofessional sounding productions.

To follow up after applying for a job, consider sending an email to the recruiter. Use that message to show the employer that you are very interested in the position and to ask for an interview.

Spelling, grammar, and punctuation count online. Some companies can program their online application system automatically block you from consideration in the future if you send in an application with typographical errors.

Have all your information about previous employment, experience, and education on-hand before you start to apply online. Some online job applications are timed. Failure to complete the application in a certain amount of time can lead to a block placed on your profile.
