Adult ESL

A country of diversity

English as a Second Language (ESL) is an adult English language program for immigrants who have limited English proficiency. The Adult ESL Program provides instruction for adult English language learners to develop their English language literacy, life and work skills in order to achieve greater self-sufficiency and participation in American community life.

Instruction is offered in a variety of settings and locations with varied lengths of instruction and and course content to help learners meet their immediate and long term l iteracy and educational goals. The program uses a North Carolina Community College System approved assessment process to place learners in the appropriate level and to document their progress.

Because we recognize the realities of adult learners' lives, we offer various ways to study English. Use the links at the left to browse through our formats and schedules to select the one that best meets the your needs or that of your students.
