What is a prerequisite?
A prerequisite is prior course work, test scores, or work experience that is required before taking the class in which you are interested. Click here for more infomation about prerequisites.
The class I need has a prerequisite. How can I meet this requirement?
By completing the prerequisite course work, or by showing proof that the prerequisite was taken at another college, or by appropriate CPCC placement test scores, or, in some cases, with the consent of the department head.
How do I schedule placement tests?
Placement tests on Central Campus can be scheduled at the admissions office in Central High Bldg. or by calling 330-CPCC. To test at other campuses, contact the location.

Not usually. To retest you must have written authorization from a counselor or department chair.
How do I prepare for my placement tests?
Schedule your testing for a time when you will be well rested and not be rushed. To prepare, it is recommended that you review the Accuplacer study guide which is available online.
Can my placement test scores from another college be used at CPCC?
Yes, if you took the College Board ACCUPLACER/Computerized Placement Tests (CPTs). Official test results must be sent to Central Piedmont directly from the institution where the tests were taken.
