New Courses for 2008

AAAF has added new courses to its 2008 schedules. New to the General Forensics curriculum is Advanced Bloodstain Pattern Analysis, Cold Case Investigations and Questioned Documents and Handwriting Analysis for CSI’s and Investigators, Advanced Shooting Reconstruction and Intro to Ultra Violet Infrared Photography.

  • Advanced Bloodstain Pattern Analysis, a hands-on workshop to develop advanced skills in reconstructing a crime scene with bloodstains, will be taught by Ross Gardner. Gardner, a certified senior crime analyst, is author of two textbooks on bloodstain pattern analysis.
  • Shooting Reconstruction is taught by Don Mikko, Chief, Firearms Branch, US Army Crime Lab, Atlanta,GA. This outstanding class culminates at a firearms range where students shoot a vehicle and analyze bullet holes and forensic evidence.
  • Questioned Documents is taught by Charlotte Ware, US Postal Inspection Service, Charlotte,NC. Students will study questioned documents, learn collection methods, analyze handwriting samples for both lab and court use. This course will also benefit investigators in taking and identifying handwriting from suspects.
  • Intro to Ultra Violet Infrared Photography is taught by Jason Guffey, our new Program Developer and Photography specialist.
  • Preliminary Computer Investigative Techniques and Digital Search & Seizure for Patrol Officers has been added to the Digital Forensics schedule.
  • Preliminary Computer Investigative Techniques is taught by Steve Hickey, from Insight Forensics. Steve also teaches several other courses for AAAF. This computer class will give students a chance to learn using our computers- : Use our computers and learn all about file saving-jpeg images-resolution- size limits- Undercover accounts-keyboard shortcuts- loading software and much more.
